Job Specification:
We are looking for a motivated Tax Assistant to join our busy Far East department. In this role, you will support the team in delivering timely and accurate technical tax services to our clients while collaborating closely with Partners and other teams.
Key Responsibilities:
- Conduct technical support and research to address the tax needs of Far East clients, collaborating with relevant Consultants/Partners.
- Prepare personal tax returns for review by the Consultant/Partner.
- Assist with basic tax planning, compliance matters, and respond to client queries. Draft correspondence for review by the Consultant/Partner.
- Gain an understanding of residency principles, ordinary residency, domicile, capital gains tax, inheritance tax, and the taxation of death estates and trusts.
- Take responsibility for preparing tax computations and returns for straightforward companies, ready for review by a Consultant/Partner.
- Manage compliance administration and quarterly and year-end processes.
- Collaborate with the team to share knowledge and ideas, contributing to the achievement of team goals.
- Begin developing expertise in a specific technical area and build a professional network.
- Assist with marketing initiatives to enhance awareness of the firm’s services and identify cross-selling opportunities.
- Support marketing and business development initiatives.
- Promote a positive engagement with the business and uphold the firm’s values.
- Take responsibility for personal and professional behavior, ensuring integrity in all dealings with clients and colleagues while maintaining confidentiality.

Required Competencies:
- Degree qualified.
- Fluent in English, with proficiency in Mandarin or Cantonese.
- Possess a “can-do” attitude and willingness to learn, supporting team members in the Far East business.
- Develop strong technical and compliance knowledge and skills, specializing in a relevant area.
