The Role

As a Senior Tax Accountant, you will take ownership of a varied portfolio of clients, delivering a mix of accounts preparation (60%) and tax compliance/advisory (40%) work.

You’ll work closely with the Director to manage client relationships, review junior work, and contribute to the continued growth of the firm’s tax advisory offering. This role offers hands-on exposure across both compliance and advisory, making it ideal for someone ready to step up into a broader, more autonomous position.


Key Responsibilities

  • Prepare accounts in line with FRS 102 and FRS 105 standards.
  • Manage a mixed portfolio of clients, providing both accounts and tax services.
  • Prepare and review personal tax returns, ensuring full UK tax compliance.
  • Support clients with tax planning and advisory matters.
  • Handle VAT returns, submissions, and related client queries.
  • Review work prepared by junior staff, offering technical support and feedback.
  • Liaise with HMRC and clients regarding compliance and advisory issues.
  • Assist the Director in developing and promoting the firm’s tax advisory services.

About You

  • Minimum 4+ years’ UK practice experience.
  • ATT qualified or ACCA / ACA qualified (or equivalent).
  • Strong working knowledge of FRS 102 & FRS 105.
  • Proven background in personal tax compliance and advisory support.
  • Confident in managing VAT compliance and advising clients on tax-related matters.
  • Excellent communication and relationship-building skills.
  • Organised, deadline-driven, and comfortable working independently.
