R&D TAX – SPECIALIST

ROLE OVERVIEW

A prestigious and forward-thinking Top 50 accountancy firm, with ambitious growth plans to break into the Top 25 by 2026, is seeking a detail-driven and technically strong R&D Tax Specialist to join their expanding team in Oakham, near Leicestershire.

This is a focused role where you’ll work exclusively on R&D tax relief narratives and claims, supporting clients across a wide range of industries. You’ll be part of a highly experienced team within a collaborative, multi-office environment that fosters progression and professional development.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Prepare robust, technically accurate R&D tax claim narratives in line with HMRC requirements
  • Liaise directly with clients to gather technical and financial information about their qualifying projects
  • Translate complex project data into clear, compelling reports that justify R&D claims
  • Collaborate with internal tax, audit, and sector specialists to ensure accurate and compliant submissions
  • Keep up to date with evolving HMRC guidance and legislative changes related to R&D tax relief
  • Support quality assurance processes to maintain the firm’s high standards in R&D submissions
  • Contribute to internal knowledge-sharing and training initiatives as the team grows

REQUIREMENTS

  • CTA, ATT, ACA or ACCA qualified
  • Minimum of 3 years’ experience in a UK accountancy practice focused on R&D tax relief
  • Strong written communication skills with the ability to translate technical language clearly
  • In-depth understanding of HMRC guidelines and best practice for R&D claims
  • Background in tax, accounting, science, engineering, or technology-related sectors preferred
  • Highly organised and capable of managing multiple projects and deadlines
  • Client-focused with excellent interpersonal and stakeholder management skills
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office and familiar with cloud-based tools
